Project Brief
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of working closely with 1Horizon on a wonderful community-focused project for Spectrum – a charity that supports vulnerable adults across Northamptonshire. Spectrum wanted to extend and refurbish their existing building to create the brand-new Spectrum Café, a warm and accessible space designed to bring people together and offer additional support within the local area.
The project required relocating Spectrum’s existing office to the rear of the building and constructing a new front extension that would house the café. The goal was to create a space that felt inviting, functional, and aligned with the charity’s mission.

Our Solution
From the outset, our focus was on providing a smooth, well-structured process to support both 1Horizon and Spectrum. We began by completing the initial surveys needed to assess the existing building and prepare accurate plans. Once this was in place, we handled the planning submissions and worked closely with the council to secure full planning permission.
We also prepared all building regulation drawings and documentation required for approval, guiding the project through compliance with no unnecessary delays. Alongside this, we assisted with the tender process to ensure the build was placed in the right hands and that the project could be delivered to a high standard.
With clear communication between ourselves, 1Horizon, and the Spectrum team, the project ran smoothly from start to finish. The new Spectrum Café officially opened in April and has already become a popular spot within the community – something we’re incredibly proud to have been part of.
